One Love

She was the love of my life. 
But we made a pact in high school. When it came to college, we would walk away from our relationship, even if it destroyed us. 

As the years went on, She was always in the back of my mind.  When I get a job offer that may bring her back into my life, I jump at the opportunity. After years, we could finally be in a place where our relationship might work. 

But there are a few things standing in our way. 

One, I’m an assistant professor at the same school she's completing her graduate program. A relationship is forbidden. 

Two, she isn't the same girl she was all those years ago. There’s a darkness inside of her that wasn't there before. I want to help her get through it, but she won't let me. 

I have to find a way to show her that we can make it past the obstacles. That we belong together. This just might destroy me, 

But I would do anything for our love.​
